Social Responsibility

The Sawridge Group of Companies are committed to supporting and building healthy communities in Alberta. Each of our hotels and businesses strives to be the hub of their local community; hosting banquets, charitable functions, weddings and other special community events. Our community involvement focuses on areas of education, environmental initiatives, health and safety, Aboriginal relations, local community development, arts and culture, and recreation.

Social responsibility at Sawridge is not taken lightly, our employees are very passionate and dedicated to bettering our communities which can be seen through our Sweet Dreams Challenge with Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta. All of our hotels compete against each other and regional restaurants to raise the most money for Make-A-Wish through creative dessert selling on one day. In 2013, Sawridge raised a total of $21,074 among all of their hotels and the Travel Centre. Ideas included cupcakes and a car wash, Oilers autographs and the winning property (Fort McMurray) held a dessert carnival for families and friends. In addition to this each of our hotels supports various initiatives including the Aboriginal Pow Wow in Peace River, Jasper clean up days, Golf Tournaments, Keyano College and many more.

In March 2012 the Sawridge Inns and Conference Centres were bestowed the Humanitarian Award by the Hotel Association of Canada for the extraordinary commitment to bettering our communities; and for the efforts shown in the aftermath of the Slave Lake Wildfires in May 2011.
