Summit GM Acquires the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre Fort McMurray

Press Release

FORT MCMURRAY, August 31, 2016 – Summit GM is set to unveil its ambitious plans to transform one of Fort McMurray’s landmarks, the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre, into Canada’s largest GM showroom.

Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre will close their doors on December 17th after three decades of helping create memories in the community. The Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre was proud to host many of the region’s significant events, conferences, fundraisers, weddings and more.  Sawridge and its employees have shown a deep dedication to the community over the years and are sincerely thankful for all the support received in return.

Prior to the fires in Fort McMurray, Summit GM and Sawridge Group met with RMWB to finalize discussions regarding the sale.  Summit GM is working with architects and the Regional Board to retain as much of the interior architectural features of the hotel lobby and conference center as possible to keep the look and original feel of the building alive as well as the history and memories.

The new Summit GM (Chevrolet Buick GMC) will keep the main entrance of the Sawridge Inn and will donate the canopy entrance to the RMWB.  To further the legacy of the building, Summit GM will be including a small restaurant within the dealership called The Sawridge Café for their customers and staff to enjoy.

This new location for Summit GM will have all the same services that are offered at their current location;  including New and Pre-Owned vehicle sales, rentals, leasing, service, parts & accessories, state of the art automotive detailing and collision & paint repairs.

Construction is slated to begin in 2017.  It will be exciting to see the transformation when the doors open to Canada’s largest GM dealership.
